Yaz Al-Shaater: theatre director

This page is about my stage work - for screen and radio, click here.

I'm a stage and screen director with particularly extensive experience of comedy, Shakespeare, Fringe, and visual theatre.

Recent* successes include: Dead Reckoning (Young Vic, 2017), Boris: World King (total sell-out, Edinburgh 2015 and 2016; West End, 2016), Monster (Pleasance, Vault, international tour), Othello and Titus Andronicus: an all-female production (for Smooth Faced Gentlemen), Not The Messiah (Theatre 503 and UK Tour), Macbeth: The Shakespeare Shuffle (Greenwich Theatre), Auditorium ("the world's first interactive farce"), Later Showers, Play On Words (Tristan Bates Theatre), as well as a variety of scenes, guest slots and extracts for assorted nights.

I graduated from The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama with 1st Class Degree in Theatre Practice, with a specialism in alternative and interactive theatre, and performance art, but I've been making my own work with my company Three's Company since age thirteen.

I'm a member of the Young Vic Jerwood programme, ADF, SDUK, and IdeasTap Creative Space scheme.

*I'm writing this in 2018 so this may no longer constitute "recent". If that's the case, hello to you in the future. What does 2023 look like?
